iPhone Review: Deer Hunter 3D ($2.99)

Deer Hunting 3D is another shooting gallery type of game, but with much more depth to it than Metal Gear Solid Touch had. There are three different areas, each with 4 different difficulty levels and 6 different weapons to choose from (including an AK47, awesome!). Aside from the first of each of the afore mentioned, everything has to be unlocked which makes the game more fun trying to unlock everything. There is also a lightening round mode and a tutorial.

You have in the hunting trip mode (the normal mode, as it were), you start out with an overhead map and move around until you find a spot with an animal you want to hunt. You it then takes you to the shooting gallery type of view where you have about 180 degrees of view. You then can touch and move the screen to move the reticle and tap the screen to shoot. If your weapon has a scope (also has to be unlocked), then you can use that to zoom in. There is of course also a lot of movement of the reticle depending on which weapon you’re using (a bolt rifle is pretty steady as opposed to a black powder rifle is moving all over the place) and you can steady your shot slightly by pressing the steady button.

This game is amazingly fun. I started playing it thinking it was going to be lame (especially since I’m not the hunting type of person, or shooting gallery type of person for that matter), but I couldn’t put it down for about 2 hours. I highly recommend this game, no matter what type of person you are or what games you like. It’s fun no matter what, and a LOT of fun.
